The Swiss Federal Council has renewed Martin Vetterli's term as president of Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), upon the recommendation of the ETH Board. The professor of communication systems will therefore lead EPFL for a second four-year term that will begin on 1 January 2021.

The first call for proposal for the EPFL Open Science Fund attracted nearly 50 propositions. Nine projects were selected and will receive support to develop ideas fostering open and reproducible research on campus, and beyond.

Rather than simply complaining about the lack of women, the researchers at EPFL decided to walk the talk by launching GirlsCoding.
